Hi Kishan, thank
you for taking the time to talk to Tendify. Can you tell us a
little about yourself and the work you produce?
Hey, my name is Kishan Rama and I am from sunny South Africa.
I'm a professional designer running my own freelance business,
Designerama. With over 12 years of industry experience, I
specialise in visual communication with a focus on design, brand
and online work. During the day i work as the lead UX and UI
designer for a large online shopping site, bidorbuy.co.za
Can you take us through your creative
process?
My creative process will vary depending on the type of job I'm
required to do. This can be quite complex, all depending on whether
it's print, online or motion graphics. The basics of this process
are the same though, firstly I'll interpret the client brief, next
I'll do some research and find some inspiration, then I'll
conceptualise an idea and craft an aesthetic look and feel, and if
all is good - work toward the finished product.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Depending on what I'm doing, I'll draw inspiration from a lot of
different places, people and things. Sometimes it's from watching
tv or walking around at the mall or driving around town looking at
buildings or even just chatting to friends. I'm easily excited
by stuff that visually stimulates me :)
Though nowadays, a lot of inspiration comes via the
internet.
Do you have a favourite piece from your
portfolio?
Uhmmm…can't say I have one. There are a few pieces that aren't
in my portfolio yet, which i'll be updating and refreshing
soon.
Couldn't work without…?
Music!!!
Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to start out
in your field?
Be passionate and love what you do. Be different and
unique. Have fun.
What are your career goals for the future?
To continually grow, develop and adapt to and with this
ever-changing world, its technology and its people. In doing
so, I hope to further understand people, how to effectively
communicate and engage with them, and of course most importantly,
visually stimulate them. Hopefully through this journey lies
greater fulfilment and future success.
