We are looking for a Scottish designer who will work with us to design the furniture that we will have manufactured in the Far East. We are looking for a designer who will be able to advise on materials to be used within the furniture. This will include strength, recommendations of most competitive materials and how best to incorporate Scottish materials. Our offices are in Glasgow but the designer could be anywhere in Scotland.
We are looking for a designer who could offer us concept designs on furniture which we could then work together with them and develop the concept. We would like this to have a large Scottish theme running through it. Initially it might only be 6-10 items, probably tables and chairs in a variety of options. We envisage that this furniture will be manufactured in wood and will have Scottish parts that might be engravings, metal parts, material similar to tartan and Harris tweed. We are not planning to do fully upholstered items at this stage.
The number of concepts per item of furniture is difficult to say at this moment in time but let’s say 1 or 2 concepts for each piece for pricing purposes.
We would look for the designer to provide initial designs and assist with sizes, heights, shapes of products.
We envisage our clients to be boutique hotels internationally, golf clubs and private members clubs.
We would require the concept to go from sketching through to manufacturers drawings. I assume that these will be on Autocad as we would want to be able to produce a 3D print of the products. We would be able to get Autocad and manufacturing drawings done if you do not have Autocad. The main item is to ask if you are interested in producing concept drawings for us initially.
We are not sure about prototypes but there might be a requirement for this. Again we would have a workshop that could manufacture if you do not have this capability.
We would want full IP for the design and all drawings.
